Qualifications
An upper second-class honours degree (or equivalent) in a relevant subject.

English Language requirements
For applicants whose first language is not English, it is necessary to achieve a minimum score in an approved English language test specified in 'Profile C' of the University's English Language Requirements Policy.

- The name of a proposed supervisor(s) and topic(s). Without this information it will not be possible to process your application and any decision regarding the outcome of your application will be delayed until this information is provided.
- Personal statement
- Information on your likely source of funding – please refer to the funding source by name.
- Two references - please arrange for your referees to provide electronic references, which can be uploaded through the online application system
- Academic transcript
- Predicted final degree result or copy of degree certificate(s)
- Copy of English language certificate (where appropriate)
NB: The sections in the online application form asking for either a ‘research statement’ or ‘research training information’ do not need to be completed.
Selection process
Following initial review, applicants will be interviewed by the Postgraduate Tutor and other academic staff. The Postgraduate Tutor makes the final decision about an application.
The School does not seek a deposit for non-studentship-funded PhD’s but would require proof of ability to self-fund. Payment mechanisms are finalised by Student Finance.
