Selection process

When your online application is submitted, the Postgraduate Tutor will check the application to verify that you meet the minimum academic requirements for admission and possibly request that you submit additional supporting documentation. Your application will then be forwarded to the potential supervisors listed on your application.

Individual supervisors will evaluate your application; you will be informed about the status of your application within 3-4 weeks. If the supervisor expresses an interest in pursuing your application, s/he may contact you directly to ask for additional information to help them to evaluate your application. If you are applying for a competitive PhD programme, then it may not be possible to make an offer until after all interviews have been held.

Our programmes are open to international students; however, research council funding is restricted to UK home students. The number of opportunities available will be determined by supervisor and funding availability. Self-funding is an option.

All applications are considered in accordance with the University’s policy on equality and diversity. The School upholds the principles of equality and diversity, respect and dignity. Candidates are not discriminated against on the grounds of race, ethnicity, nationality, gender, sexuality, religion or belief, disability, health or age.
