Careers service support for mature students

Our inspiring Careers Service is here to support you as soon as you register as a student, and for up to three years after you graduate. We recommend visiting the Careers Service as soon as you are ready to, to allow yourself time to explore your options, try out your career ideas, build skills and experience, and prepare for the job market.

Flying Start

UK Home undergraduate mature students receive the Flying Start careers support newsletter.  It aims to support your career planning and increase your confidence. It features opportunities to build your network and develop your skills, as well as paid opportunities and top tips for career planning.

Our Careers Service offers tailored support to students, including individual appointments and a live chat. They support students with a range of career topics, including:

Our careers advisers have also developed mycareer pages with careers information and advice for tailored to specific groups, including mature students, widening participation students and disabled and neurodivergent students.

Once you are a student at the University, you will have your own mycareer account which will give you access to a range of services, including careers events and resources, employer information and employment opportunities. 

Bristol Mentors - Alumni Mentoring Programme

As a UK Home undergraduate mature student, you can apply for an alumni mentor. Bristol Mentors is a programme that matches successful applicants with a mentor who will guide and support them throughout the academic year. Mentors can provide a unique perspective with their knowledge and experience. They are a great sounding board for your ideas and plans. Our mentors are positive, enthusiastic and committed to giving up their time to help current students. They can help you to gain access to networks you might not otherwise be able to reach.
