Aurora 2018-19

Aurora is a leadership development programme for those who identify as women. Run by Advance HE, the programme is aimed at enabling more women to develop the leadership side of their careers and so address the underrepresentation of women at senior levels in the sector. The programme is run in partnership with universities, and based on workshop events, mentoring and self-directed learning.

University of Bristol’s participation

As part of the University’s commitment to addressing the gender imbalance in senior roles, particularly within academic schools, the University will be encouraging staff to participate in Aurora in 2018/19. Full details about the programme structure and content can be found on the Advance HE website.

It is the responsibility of each individual Faculty or Division to decide the number of places they wish to fund from their area(s). Programme places are £1000 pp. If the Faculty or Division has more interested candidates than available funding, it may wish to implement a local application and selection process. There is a downloadable form available to assist with this if needed. 

If you are a potential candidate interested in attending the Aurora programme, please talk with your line manager. You will need the support of your line manager to be put forward. If there are limited places available in your area, your Dean/Faculty Manager/Divisional Head will ultimately select who will participate from the pool of potential candidates.

Programme dates

It is strongly recommended that you attend the Cardiff dates to keep travel costs down, but if any of these are not convenient, Birmingham and London (Spring) dates are available. Please be aware that all travel costs will need to be met by your department/faculty.
