Professor Pauline Heslop - Programme Lead

Pauline is a Professor of Intellectual Disabilities Research. She is a qualified nurse by background. Since working at the Norah Fry Centre for Disability Studies, Pauline has completed research into a range of health in people and care-related issues. She led the Confidential Inquiry into premature deaths of people with learning disabilities (CIPOLD) from 2010-2013, which identified potentially modifiable factors associated with premature deaths in people with learning disabilities.

Andy Wistow - Programme Manager

Andy has more than 25 years’ experience in managing programmes and projects in the charity, public and private sectors. His role is to plan work and resources, identify and solve risks and issues and to act as the point of contact for key stakeholders.

Chris Allen - Communications Manager

Chris has more than 20 years' experience of working in media, communications and public relations. His role helps facilitate two-way communication about the programme between the university, NHS England, clinical and care professionals, people with learning disabilities and their families.

Dave Hanford - Information Officer (Easy Read)

Dave is an Information Officer for the LeDeR Programme. He works with the Communications Manager to produce easy read information. He helps make it easy for people with a learning disability and their family and friends get the help they need to get the best health care. Dave works one day per week, on Tuesdays.

Dr Avon Huxor - Research Associate

Avon is a data scientist and responsible for creating and adapting coding tools for use in data analysis and coding. Data will be drawn from electronic or paper-based reports about deaths of people with learning disabilities.

Dr Vicky Byrne – Research Associate

Vicky has a background in supporting people with learning disabilities and conducting research about the marginalisation experienced by people with learning disabilities.
She provides research-related support for the LeDeR programme which includes undertaking secondary research, carrying out systematic reviews, assisting in the writing of briefing papers and journal articles about the findings of the programme.

Rachel Calkin – Data Analyst

With a background in social science research and evaluation, Rachel is responsible for much of the reporting and data analysis requirements of the programme.
She works closely with other members of the data team to create reports for a range of audiences.

Kamila Gielnik - Data Assistant

Kamila provides specialised support in the areas of data analysis, reporting and coding. She works closely with Rachel and Avon, and with the coding team.
Previously, Kamila worked for LeDeR anonymising and coding reviews. She is currently looking at different ways of presenting data in reports.

Alison Burnett - Programme Coordinator

Ali is responsible for two areas of the Programme; the development and management of the secure web-based LeDeR review system, and the stakeholder coordination side of Themed Learning reports that are based on data gathered and analysed by the LeDeR team.

Nick Cook - Coding Team Leader

Nick is responsible for managing a team of Coders, ensuring that work is allocated and completed accurately and efficiently, whilst forecasting future workflow. He develops systems and processes to enable the Coding Team to achieve agreed targets.
