Can I travel to a country with Covid 19 restrictions?

The University is following the advice of The Government, Public Health England, the Foreign Commonwealth Office and the World Health Organisation in relation to University activities.

Will the University travel insurance cover me in respect of Covid 19 or SARS-COV-2, or their variants?

For travellers going abroad:

You should check the most up to date advice from the FCO or the appropriate body.  Here is the link to the FCO website:   https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice

Exemptions :  If the FCO have advised against all but essential international travel to a Country and have then exempted that Country from the restriction and are allowing travel, then the cancellation/curtailment and rearrangement section will operate, but only where the exemption applies.  Where it is known that the exemption will be lifted and a booking is made before it is in implemented, cover will not be in place.

For travellers intending to travel within the UK:

Travel insurance for UK travel is only available if the journey requires overnight accommodation or involves a flight, and excludes medical cover.  If any UK Government or similar governing body advises against all but essential travel, then cancellation/curtailment and rearrangement is not in place.

In all cases, permission to travel to travel must be sought from the University prior to making any travel arrangements.  See here for further information:  https://uob.sharepoint.com/sites/coronavirus/SitePages/travelling-as-part-of-your-work.aspx
