Bristol Hub for Gambling Harms Research International Interdisciplinary Colloquium 2023

4:00pm - 5:00pm: Networking session.

Where: This is a free, in-person event being held at the M Shed, Princes Wharf, Wapping Rd, Bristol, UK (with a Livestream option for those unable to attend in person).

Join us for the first Bristol Hub for Gambling Harms Research International Interdisciplinary Colloquium. 

This one-day conference will showcase gambling harms research; feature keynotes from government, lived experience and research experts from around the world; invite all participants to discuss ways of tackling gambling harms across disciplinary, practice and international boundaries; and enable rich networking. 

The theme is “Building capacity in gambling harms research”, with keynotes and panel sessions reflecting the four Research Challenges of the Hub: 

  • Perceptions, Motivations, Decisions. What initiates harmful gambling?    
  • Narratives, Practice, RepresentationWhat is the everyday practice and portrayal of gambling in social groups?    
  • Experience, Risk, Harm. What social and spatial inequalities exacerbate gambling harms?    
  • Innovation, Transition, Change. What socio-technical innovations can help combat gambling harms?   

The event will be held at the M Shed, located on the harbourside in Bristol, a short walk from the city centre and Bristol Temple Meads train station.
