Delving into youth perspectives on in-game gambling-like elements
In today's digital gaming world, elements resembling gambling, such as loot boxes, have become prevalent. These elements, while popular, may have negative consequences, especially for young players. Our project aims to delve deeper into the youth's views on these in-game gambling elements. Using advanced technologies like AI and sentiment analysis, we will explore how these elements influence their gaming experiences and their willingness to spend on them. By merging various disciplines, such as computer science and social psychology, we aim to provide a holistic understanding, guiding responsible game development, policymakers, and parents in creating a safer gaming environment.
The project led is Dr Thomas Krause (Gambling Research Center) at the University of Hohenheim.
