Research groups and resources
The School of Psychology and Neuroscience hosts, and works closely with, a wide range of multi-disciplinary research groups, units, institutes, and centres. These include world leading confederations of scientists undertaking cutting edge research in to behaviour, cognition, health, neurology, and endocrinology.
- Cerebrovascular and Dementia Research GroupOur research aims to better understand the pathophysiology of dementia and translate basic laboratory findings into therapeutic interventions.
- Nutrition and Behaviour Unit (NBU)The Nutrition and Behaviour Unit has been established since 2006 and it forms one of the largest groups of its kind studying human food choice, dietary behaviour and appetite control.
- Translational and Applied Research Group (TARG)Originally established in 2007, we explore the psychological and biological factors that drive health-related behaviours, with a particular focus on nicotine and tobacco use, alcohol, other drugs, mental health, and neurodiversity. Our research has shaped legislation and public health policies in the UK and internationally.
- Anaesthesia, Pain and Critical CareThe Bristol Anaesthesia, Pain and Critical Care Research group is a multi-disciplinary collaboration aiming to transform patient care by providing new evidence from Basic science through to Applied clinical studies. The group develops novel methods to tackle important questions relevant to patients, clinicians, scientists and the NHS and is working to inspire and train new generations of junior clinicians and scientists to undertake high quality research.
- Behavioural Interventions Group (BIG)The BIG team brings together expertise across psychology, public health and social science. Our focus is on developing and evaluating interventions that promote sustainable, meaningful change to improve health outcomes.
- Technology, Democracy, and Cognition Group (TeDCog)The TeDCog group is an interdisciplinary group hosted mainly in the School of Psychology and Neuroscience that examines the pressure points between human cognition and online technologies, and the consequences for democracy that arise from those pressure points.
- Dodson Lab Resources: 3D printed equipmentThe Dodson Lab offers open-source, 3D-print files for laboratory equipment designed as low-cost alternatives for neuroscience research.
