About us
The Centre for Academic Mental Health (CAMH) is part of Population Health Sciences (PHS), an internationally recognised centre for research excellence and teaching within Bristol Medical School.
CAMH conducts high quality research and teaching on mental health within the School, the wider University and externally. Moreover, the Centre seeks to provide a sense of belonging, coherence and common purpose for academics working on mental health research across Bristol Medical School.
CAMH has close links with the NIHR Bristol BRC - Mental Health Theme. It also works closely with the NIHR Applied Research Collaboration (ARC) West, MRC IEU, NIHR Health Protection Research Unit, NIHR School for Primary Care, NIHR School for Public Health, and School of Psychological Science. CAMH also has close links with the NIHR Clinical Research Network, West of England which works in partnership with a number of universities and clinical sites to provide the infrastructure to support large scale, high quality research in mental health and social care.
Members of CAMH also support several Health Integration Teams (HITs) which are multidisciplinary groups of academics, clinicians, service users, commissioners and others aiming to improve healthcare services for a specific illness or disorder within the Bristol area. At present there are four mental health HITS; psychosis, self-harm and suicidal behaviour, and peri-natal mental health.
