Site in focus: Charing Cross Hospital

Sanela Andrijac is a Clinical Trials Co-ordinator for Charing Cross. She enthusiastically discusses two aspects of UPSTREAM communication.

The research nurse trial teleconferences are a very useful exercise, especially for sharing tips and hearing other site’s experiences, etc. It’s the only way to get proper updates and it makes a huge difference being able to discuss problems and experiences with other sites.

I think the yellow slips are a huge godsend; very helpful. None of the other studies I work on have this. It’s very simple yet very effective and easily focussed on. They’re big, bold and bright and have all of the inclusion and exclusion criteria in one place so you can quickly look to check and see if a patient is suitable.

All of the studies have posters which are on the walls of the clinic but you don’t have time to look at them. Having a slip attached to patient notes is much better, and because of the bright colour they just leap out at you. Surgeons are extremely busy so they need something in front of them, not on the wall.”
