About the School of Psychology and Neuroscience

The School of Psychology and Neuroscience was formed in 2025, by bringing together members of the School of Psychological Science with neuroscientists formerly based in the School of Physiology, Pharmacology and Neuroscience, Bristol Medical School, and the School of Biochemistry.

The vision of the School is to deliver world leading research and teaching into the brain, behaviour and mind. To achieve this aim our staff and students apply cross-disciplinary experimental approaches that span cells to society, including research with clinical and non-clinical populations. Through this research one of our goals is to address the Faculty Grand Challenges of Understanding and Transforming Mental Health.

Reflecting the international focus of the University as a whole, our staff and students come from across the world, and we have numerous successful national and international research collaborations. Members of the School engage actively with the public and other potential audiences to share our passion for Psychology and Neuroscience and the findings of our work. The School also has a pivotal role in Bristol Neuroscience Research Network

We are committed to ensuring equity and diversity within the School and currently hold a Silver Athena SWAN award.
