Research interests
Dr Rahul Bhatnagar is a Consultant Respiratory Physician at North Bristol NHS Trust, an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Bristol Academic Respiratory Unit, and an Adjunct Professor of Respiratory Medicine at the University of Southern Denmark.
He has research interests in clinical trials in pleural disease, with an emphasis on malignant effusions and their management; pleural infection; novel diagnostics; and thoracic ultrasound. He regularly organises and teaches on pleural courses for the British Thoracic Society and European Respiratory Society, and lectures both nationally and internationally.
He previously led the IPC-Plus and TAPPS randomised trials, co-leads the International Collaborative Effusion Database project, and was named as a Royal College of Physicians Quincentennial Lecturer in 2018.
