Research interests
Pablo is an interdisciplinary researcher interested in driving systems change towards a regenerative built environment that enhances the health and vibrancy of social and ecological systems and creates the conditions for all life to flourish. Taking a holistic systems perspective, he utilises approaches and frameworks rooted in systems thinking, design thinking, and futures thinking, such as Group Model Building and Three Horizons, to collaboratively explore complex challenges and inform potential solutions with diverse stakeholders and disciplines.
His current research for TRUUD (Tacking the Root Causes Upstream of Unhealthy Urban Development) seeks to map and understand the interconnected factors and feedback loops that influence the consideration of health in urban development decision-making, identify leverage points for change, and evaluate the cumulative and cross-system effects of interventions targeted at different sectors and scales of governance.
Pablo is co-lead for the UKPRP Prevention Research Network Interest Group: "Improving Collaborative Research Practices" where he facilitated knowledge exchange with members of UKPRP consortia and networks, policy partners and funders on ways to improve inter/transdisciplinary research. He is participating in the GW4 Crucible programme for future research leaders in radically different disciplines across University of Bristol, University of Bath, Cardiff University, and University of Exeter to collaborate on the theme of “Creative Societies and Cultures, a Public Good?”. Pablo also participated in the Regenerative Design Lab accelerator programme for leading engineering and construction industry professionals to explore regenerative design principles and bring them into their organisation, work, and life.
