Biography
David is a senior project manager with experience of working in academia, the public sector and the private sector. He completed his PhD, which explored sustainable transport funding in the local authority sector, at the University of the West of England in 2015. His PhD explored funding through a social practice lens, identifying the materials, meanings and competences that exist within the transport planning sector and how this influences what is delivered and the opportunities this creates for people to change how they travel.
David was able to draw on his experience of delivering complex transport funding initiatives for clients including: The West of England Partnership, Swindon Borough Council and Bath and North East Somerset Council in developing his research.
Between 2016 and 2018 David worked as a Research Associate on the PARCOUR project, which compared urban regeneration in the UK, The Netherlands and Brazil. In 2017, David was awarded the Wolfson Economics Prize Lightbulb award for his concept of Harnessing Energy from Highways.
David has worked with several government and quasi-government organisations including Defra, the DfT and National Highways. Prior to joining the TRUUD project, David worked for Mott MacDonald as a Cost Intelligence Analyst providing data solutions for clients in the transport and water sectors.
