Biography
Research interests
I'm a behavioural scientist with a background in health psychology. My research broadly aims to understand and improve people's health and their experiences of health care. I use mixed methods to investigate a range of topics in public health, primary and secondary care, and I enjoy working with a variety of stakeholders in the public, private and third sectors. I am experienced in developing behaviour change interventions, designing and conducting evaluations of health interventions, and conducting systematic evidence reviews.
I am currently working on a programme of research to widen access to dementia services and evaluate a new model of Parkinson's and dementia care. This work is funded by the NIHR ARC West dementia programme.
Another key area of my research has been on helping families with young children communicate about the sensitive topic of weight. Working with the Office for Health Improvement and Disparities (OHID) and the Association of UK Dietitians (BDA), I and colleagues in the University of Bath have developed a guidance resource for parents on this, which can be found here: https://www.bath.ac.uk/publications/talking-to-your-child-about-weight-a-guide-for-parents-and-caregivers-of-children-aged-4-11-years/
