WHO report highlights violence against women as a ‘global health problem of epidemic proportions’ and launches new guidelines for the health sector

World Health Organisation (WHO) clinical and policy guidelines to help the health sector respond to intimate partner and or sexual violence against women are published today [20 June]. The guidelines, authored by an international group of experts and based on systematic evidence reviews, are published in conjunction with a WHO report that reveals violence against women is a public health problem affecting more than one third of women globally. The guidelines aim to help countries improve their health sectors’ capacity to respond to violence against women.
