QS World University Rankings 2027 by global higher education analyst QS Quacquarelli Symonds features 1,504 universities across 106 countries, including 93 in the United Kingdom.
Alongside retaining its ranking of 8th in the UK, a record number of University of Bristol subjects ranked among the top 20 in the world and top five in the UK in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026.
This year’s ranking saw a strong performance across international research networks, academic reputation and employer reputation. It underlines the growing success of the University’s internationalisation approach and the increasing recognition of Bristol’s researchers and graduates among peers and employers worldwide.
In the sustainability ranking, which assesses the University’s environmental and social impact, Bristol has once again ranked in the top 20 in the world, placing 19th.
The University has also significantly strengthened its international research network, with flagship partnerships with the University of Cape Town (UCT) and the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), reflecting the expanding global reach and influence of its research activity and academic partnerships. Bristol will be co-hosting the World Academic Summit in Cape Town with UCT in September.
In collaboration with the UK Government, the University has launched a strategic technology partnership with Sarawak, Malaysia, strengthening its global leadership in semiconductor innovation and creating new opportunities for research collaboration and investment.
Deepening its links in China, the University marked the 25th anniversary of the Bristol–Guangzhou sister city relationship with a strategic partnership supporting student and staff mobility to the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology’s Guangzhou campus.
And the University will be the highest-ranked UK University in India when its Mumbai Enterprise Campus opens in August.
