The evening was co-hosted with the University of the West of England (UWE) and included a drinks reception as well as a variety of entertainment from UWE’s hip-hop trio ‘The Reign’, its saxophone band ‘Saxfaction’, and the University of Bristol’s high-energy Bollywood Dance Society.
Welcome speeches were given by Bristol Deputy Mayor Asher Craig, University of Bristol Pro Vice-Chancellor - Global Engagement Dr Erik Lithander and UWE Pro Vice-Chancellor - Student Experience Jo Midgley.
Student guest, Osama Ansari who is studying Operations and Project Management (MSc) at the University of Bristol said: “This is a great way for students to make contacts and interact with people from different countries and cultures.”
Dr Lithander said: “Bristol is one of the best cities in the world to be a student. This doesn’t happen by accident - people have to become involved. Get out there and make this city even more international.”
The evening was the first of a programme of cultural events run by the University’s new Global Lounge team.
