Six members of staff and students took part in a weekend workshop led by filmmaker Tom Stubbs last autumn to help make mini-films of their impressions of the sculpture. ‘Follow Me’ was commissioned in 2009 for the University’s centenary, and has amused and amazed thousands of people ever since.
The ‘Follow Me’ session was the first in a series of ‘Art in My Backyard’ workshops. Inspiring people to look at public artworks with fresh eyes, the project, funded by Bristol City Council, sets out to capture personal stories and local responses to recent Bristol-based commissions.
Situations commissions and produces both temporary and long-term public artworks, as well as acting as a facilitator to bring people and partners together through collective programmes and festival events in the South West of England and internationally.
More information on the project is available, and the videos can be viewed on the Art in My Backyard project page.
