Economics Network, based at the University of Bristol, will host its seventh ‘Developments in Economics Education’ conference on 5-6 September, at the University of Exeter.
Events include keynote speeches by eminent economists John Kay and Paul Ormerod; a panel discussion on the future of the macroeconomics curriculum chaired by Bank of England Deputy Governor Charlie Bean; and a session reporting on the impact of the rise in tuition fees on economics’ student behaviour and expectations.
Following the withdrawal of funding from the Higher Education Academy to all UK HE subject centres, the Economics Network, based at the University of Bristol, is now supported by the Royal Economic Society, the Scottish Economic Society and the University of Bristol along with 45 other UK economics departments. The Network, steered by its community and new funders, continues to provide large-scale training to economics graduate teaching assistants and new lecturers (with 15 workshops training over 230 individuals in 2012). It supports nearly 100 departments offering economics at university level.
