PhD student Rosa Vasilaki has won the Millennium journal’s Northedge Essay Competition 2012 for students of International Relations.
Rosa, a research student in the School of Sociology, Politics and International Studies, was awarded the prize for her essay ‘Provincialising IR? Deadlocks and Prospects in Post-Western IR Theory’, an examination of debates over theories of society and politics in a 'post-western’ world, which is published in the online version of Millennium: Journal of International Studies.
The Northedge Essay Competition was established in 1986 and is open to students currently pursuing or who have recently completed a degree in International Relations or a related field. The winner is chosen on the basis of the essay’s contribution to the advancement of the field, originality of the argument and scholarly presentation.
