The shortlisted finalists will be printed out, framed and placed on show. The image should represent a real, scientific result, but also be ‘beautiful’, as seen through the eyes of the judging panel. The first prize, donated by Carl Zeiss SMT, is a Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W110 digital still camera with 4x optical zoom Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar lens.
The closing date for entries is midday on Friday 9 October. There will be an exhibition of the shortlisted finalists in the Centre for Nanoscience and Quantum Information on Friday 23 October 2009, during which the winners will be announced and the prizes awarded.
The winning images will then be relocated to a more permanent display in Oldbury House. The Interface Analysis Centre may also wish to display the images on its website and in various print publications. For further information, please contact Dr Thomas Scott, email t.b.scott@bristol.ac.uk.
