Professor Steele’s early interest in multilevel modelling, longitudinal data analysis and demography has led her to collaborate with social scientists and economists on projects covering areas including health and finance in developing countries, the relationship between childbearing and partnership dissolution in Britain, and the impact of school resources on pupil attainment in England and Wales.
‘My election as a Fellow of the British Academy is a great honour,’ said Professor Steele. ‘As a statistician, it means a great deal to me that my contribution to social science has been recognised.’
All Fellows will be formally admitted to the Academy at a ceremony in September.
