Have you ever wished that the environmental impact of the University could be reduced? Ever wanted to demonstrate that your department thinks about the environment, or to challenge some of the environmental bad practices that occur here?
The Green Impact Awards offers you the opportunity to do this. It’s a practical way of helping departments become greener, and celebrating the small steps that individuals are taking to reduce our collective environmental impact.
Green Impact challenges departments to implement a number of easy measures that will improve the environment. The more actions completed by a department the more points are scored, leading to a Bronze, Silver or Gold award. These actions range from instructing staff about printing double-sided and recycling batteries to collecting postage stamps for charity.
All interested staff are invited to an introductory workshop on Friday 31 October 1-2pm in Biological Sciences, Woodland Road, room B75. The workshop will outline the purpose of the scheme, explain what participation will involve, lay out the timeline, and introduce each of the bronze criteria.
The workshop is open to any member of staff interested in their department participating in the scheme.
