The first Young Neuroscientists’ Day, a highly successful event held at Bristol in 2007, followed the formation of the Bristol Cardiff Neuroscience Collaboration, an initiative to enable greater communication between Cardiff and Bristol neuroscience communities, especially via Cardiff Neurosciences Centre and Bristol Neuroscience.
The Day is organised by a committee that includes postgraduates from Bristol and Cardiff, and the delegates will include some 80-90 early-career Bristol neuroscientists and over 200 neuroscientists from across the UK. The guest speaker is Dr Emma Robinson from Bristol’s Department of Physiology and Pharmacology, who will discuss how to approach public engagement in science work that involves animals; and the plenary will be given by Dr Sarah-Jayne Blakemore from University College London, who will speak on 'The social brain in adolescence'.
