Bristol University is awarding honorary degrees to two prominent people at today’s degree ceremonies in the Wills Memorial Building [Friday 18 July].

Professor Peter Marshall, FBA, Rhodes Professor of Imperial History, King’s College, London (1980 -93), will be honoured with the degree of Doctor of Letters at the 11.15 am ceremony.

Mr Tim Thom, University of Bristol Treasurer (2000 -07), will be honoured with the degree of Doctor of Laws at the 2.30 pm ceremony.

An honorary degree is a major accolade, awarded in recognition of outstanding achievement and distinction in a field or activity consonant with the University’s mission.
