The University of Bristol’s Day Nursery has gained ‘The Bristol Standard’, a quality assurance scheme for early years settings across the city.

The self-evaluation framework is designed to help nurseries, pre-schools, reception classes and child-minders to reflect on, assess and improve their practice.

The Bristol Standard has received national acclaim and been accredited with Quality Assurance Status under the national Investors in Children scheme.

Senior staff from the Nursery attended an awards ceremony at the Council House earlier this month.  The ceremony was attended by Bristol City Council's Director of Education and Children’s Services (designate), Heather Tomlinson and Early Years Advisor to the Department of Education and Skills, Elspeth Davies, who developed the original Bristol Standard.

Dr Alan Rump, Director of Student Services for the University, said:  “Congratulations to the Nursery and all the staff for their hard work, dedication and commitment in achieving this Standard.”
