UNIVERSITY OF BRISTOL
BEC Business Plan Competition

Enterprising students and staff at the University of Bristol have the opportunity to win £25,000.
Dr Jim Murray officially launched Bristol Enterprise Centre's (BEC) first Business Plan Competition
at their new offices on Thursday 28 September. The winner will be given help by BEC to develop
and promote their idea within the business community.

This annual competition will be a source of inspiration for the University community to draw on
their wealth of talent, ideas and energy to create new business opportunities. The aim of the
competition is to encourage creativity for tomorrow's leading firms and to support University
'spin-out' companies that have the potential to expand.

An internationally renowned sponsor group that includes Citigate Dewe Rogerson, Deloitte & Touche,
Fortis Bank, Osborne Clarke OWA and STMicroelectronics supports the competition.

The competition comprises two rounds. In the second round 20 of the best entries from Round 1
will receive business support together with mentoring in commercial and business planning from
the sponsor group and BEC.

Phil Young of Fortis Bank, confirming his support for the competition, said: 'Fortis is an
international bank and we see the encouragement of new ideas that turn into new businesses
as a vital part of the UK economy. We are very pleased to be able to play a small part
in helping this to happen.'

Osborne Clarke OWA, said: 'We endorse the Business Plan Competition as it provides the
opportunity to those with entrepreneurial flair and spirit to realise their aspirations.'
