With increasing numbers of funders now opting to use a narrative CV [often described as a Résumé for Research and Innovation (R4RI)] as part of their research funding application process, colleagues may be interested in attending this CV writing workshop. The narrative CV format aims to recognise diverse contributions, backgrounds, and careers, and discourages an overreliance on decontextualised metrics such as Journal Impact Factor.

Target Audience
The workshop is open to colleagues who are writing, or planning to prepare, an individual narrative CV. The approaches covered on writing a reflective narrative account in an academic context and being concise and precise are transferable to group CV writing.

Overview
The workshop will be co-facilitated by members of the Centre for Academic Language Development and People Development Teams, and is relevant to the proposal stage of the research project life cycle. It will provide you with the opportunity to develop content for your own narrative CV, based on the R4RI template.

There will also be opportunities for peer review and learning, as you will work in small groups to support each other’s writing.

After the bootcamp workshop you will have:

  • An enhanced understanding of the structure of narrative CV (R4RI)
  • Tested out writing compelling narrative which provides evidence of impact
  • Made good progress on writing a section or two of a general narrative CV which can be customised to various calls
  • Reflected on your narrative and identified potential areas for improvement
