Pandemic Narratives and Social Justice

Hosted by the Centre for Health, Humanities & Science

Dr Mark Davis from Monash University will lead the research seminar, followed by a response panel including Professor Havi Carel, Dept of Philosophy University of Bristol; Dr Frances Giampapa School of Education University of Bristol; and Dr Sanny Mulubale Dept of Language and Social Sciences University of Zambia.

Despite the apparent unifying impact of this global pandemic, COVID-19’s effects are not experienced in the same way by all, everywhere. Much has been said about these pandemic effects in the senses of health outcomes and health care, but less attention has been paid to them as effects of power and therefore as matters of social justice. Moreover, pandemic narratives created by individuals and communities reveal tensions and schisms with the stories told about them.

All are welcome. Attendance is free.
