Working with Industry for Technical Specialists - Industry Engagement

Hosted by the Impact Development Team, Division of Research, Enterprise and Innovation, University of Bristol

The workshops will be focusing on how to utilise an opportunity with to work with industry, how to engage with industry and how to effectively communicate with industry partners. These workshops are open to technicians who fit within the BBSRC remit, and who are interested in furthering their relationship with industry or want start a new one. These workshops are free to attend and have been funded by the Impact Development team.

In this workshop you will:

  • Identify where you can have most impact through external collaboration and where it fits with your roles
  • Identify internal and external stakeholders to connect with to build collaborations
  • Engagement techniques and principles
  • Explore active listening techniques and skills for asking better questions

In this workshop you will consider where you can have most impact through external engagement and collaboration and where it fits within the context of your role. We will use a framework to identify and prioritise internal and external parties to engage with and think about how you can have richer conversations and unlock insight from potential industry and collaborative partners.

This is offered as part of a BBSRC funded initiative (Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC), aimed at stimulating and fostering relationships between Technical Staff, Researcher Staff and Industry. The Impact Development Team have arranged for three 2 hour ‘Working with Industry for Technical Specialists’ Masterclass to be delivered online (via Zoom) by specialist provider Skillfluence
