Although they might be very costly and sometimes inaccessible, retail data from Electronic Points of Sale (EPOS) might constitute very important data sources for tobacco and alcohol research. Within the SPECTRUM project, we are using longitudinal data from The Retail Data Partnership (TRDP, https://shopmate.co.uk/) across Great Britain (2016-2021) to explore the spatial distribution of tobacco and alcohol availability and retailer's margin profits. Preliminary results from these geographic analyses may contribute to discussions about the potential effectiveness of current or future policies, like alcohol minimum unit price or tobacco licensing systems.
