7 December 2022, 1.00 PM - 7 December 2022, 2.00 PM

Alan Kingstone (Professor and Distinguished University Scholar, University of British Columbia)

2D3, Priory Road Complex

Hosted by the School of Psychological Science

Abstract: As a research visitor at the University of Bristol this fall (for 2 months) and a visitor here again next summer and fall (for up to 6 months) I thought that it might be useful if I give a brief walk through some of the things that my lab and I are working on at the moment at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver. Topics discussed will range from examining the ways that the head and eyes are coordinated when viewing omni-directional panoramic scenes in virtual reality, to how the game hide-and-seek can be adapted to study complex representations of mind, to investigations that make the general point that when experimental stimuli can look back at the participant - common results are often turned on their head - which can lead to fundamental new insights regarding human cognition as well as novel directions for future research.
