Meeting the expectations of the major funding bodies for research applications involving animals
online
Hosted by the National Centre for the Replacement, Refinement and Reduction of Animals in Research (NC3Rs)
This free NC3Rs online workshop for in vivo researchers at Bristol will cover:
- Why funders like the MRC, BBSRC and the Wellcome Trust are paying more attention to experimental design and justification of animal numbers in grant applications.
- How to make sure your applications meet funders’ expectations in this area.
- How to estimate and justify appropriate animal numbers.
- Resources relevant for both grant applications and the new PPL form.
The workshop will include presentations on these topics combined with interactive group exercises, focusing on the justification of animal numbers in grant applications and detailing sample size calculations.
This workshop will be relevant to any researchers applying for grants or project licences involving the use of animals.
Spaces for the workshop are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Researchers from Bristol should register by contacting the NC3Rs Regional Programme Manager for GW4, Dr Jessica Eddy (jessica.eddy@nc3rs.org.uk). The deadline for registration is Monday 7 March 2022.
