Jamie Davies (University of Edinburgh)

C42, Biomedical Sciences Building, University of Bristol

Hosted by the School of Biochemistry

Host: Paul Martin

At the British Society of Developmental Biology (BSDB) we have a new medal called the Wolpert medal which we award each year to a megastar in science communication in the field of developmental biology.  Our inaugural awardee last year was Jamie Davies from Edinburgh who works on kidney development and lots of other things extending to synthetic biology, and writes books...and is an all round outstanding communicator of science. Part of the deal of winning this medal is that he chooses several Universities/Institutes and does a lecture tour which the BSDB funds.  His talk will cover cell and dev biol, synthetic biology, science communication, and philosophy.....so something for everyone.  And you'll see me present his medal before the talk. All welcome.
