Guest edited by Professor Emma Hornby and Dr David Andrés Fernández

This critical cluster of articles brings together research from the International Research Network Processional Chants in Early Medieval Iberia: liturgy, melody, continuity, funded by the Leverhulme Trust and led by Emma Hornby (Bristol), David Andrés Fernández (Complutense University, Madrid) and Carmen Julia Gutiérrez (Complutense University, Madrid). It includes close readings of medieval Iberian processions for Palm Sunday, initiation, the beginning of Lent, and the feast of Saint Leocadia, as well as a study of Visigothic literary evidence pertaining to religious processions. The article on 'Processional liturgy in the urban space of seventh-century Tarragona' by Eduardo Carrero Santamaría (Barcelona), Rebecca Maloy (Notre Dame) and Emma Hornby won the journal's annual Best Article Prize.
