The LMS grants enable applicants to enhance mathematical sciences research, after returning from a major break associated with caring responsibilities or requiring support to maintain their research programme while dealing with significant ongoing caring responsibilities.
Henna is Senior Lecturer in the School of Mathematics, as well as being the Director of Outreach for the School, however, the award will enable her to carry out further research into a problem, which she was previously unable to do due to caring responsibilities. She says:
"I'm very grateful to the LMS for this funding that will help me finally tackle a problem in Diophantine approximation and geometric measure theory that has been on my to do-list for years!"
The School’s Athena SWAN Lead, Professor Andrew Hogg said:
“We know that systemic gender disparities are often exacerbated by unequal burdens of caring commitments. That is why the School of Mathematics strategically prioritises supporting colleagues through career interruptions. We are incredibly proud to celebrate Henna’s award of this prestigious fellowship. Her research is exceptional, and this funding ensures she can dedicate her talents to solving a fundamental and important mathematical challenge.”
Huge congratulations to Henna on this award.
