7th Graduate Student Meeting in Applied Algebra and Combinatorics

GSMAAC is a series of European-based conferences on Applied Algebra and Combinatorics, aimed at PhD students and early-career postdocs. It is running since 2018, when it was held at the University of Osnabrück. From the organisers of the first edition:

The aim of the meeting is to bring together PhD students working in some area associated with Applied Algebra and/or Combinatorics and to encourage an active interaction and networking among them.

Topics of interest cover a wide spectrum of areas of research.

Registration is now open. Please fill in the registration form and pay the registration fee of £30 before the 20th of February. Contributions welcome. 

We aim to help any participant that requests it with accommodation at the "Bristol Grand Hotel by Sunday". Details will be given after registration closes.

How to get to Bristol:
  • By rail: We recommend you travel to the main station, Bristol Temple Meads. If you come from mainland Europe, checkout the Eurostar Paris-London.
  • By coach: We recommend you travel to Bristol Coach Station.
  • By plane: The closest airport is Bristol Airport, from where you can grab a coach to the Bristol Coach Station. Check the several London airports and Birmingham airport for cheaper flights. Some of these are connected to Bristol by rail and most are connected by coach.

What to see in Bristol:

  • Clifton Suspension Bridge
  • SS Great Britain (a historic boat)
  • St Nicholas Market (very close to the Hotel)
  • Cabot Tower
  • Bristol Cathedral
Where to eat:
  • There are many places to eat around the university, in Queens Road. We recommend "Pizza On The Park", "Yakinori", "Little Bagel Co.", and "Kokoro". 
  • Around the centre, try out "Burger theory", "Nutmeg", "Pizzarova", or "Chilli Daddy".
Where to drink:
  • If you are at the University district, you can walk up to St Michaels Hill to find pubs such as "Highbury Vaults" or "The Open Arms".
  • If you are at the centre, you may go to "The Apple", "Mr. Wolf's", "The Hatchet Inn", or "The White Lion".
