Professor Agnes Nairn Receives Fellowship from NMIMS in India

22 September 2020

Professor Agnes Nairn of the University of Bristol School of Management has been appointed Distinguished International Visiting Faculty at the Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) in Mumbai.

NMIMS is a top ranked business school in India with over 17,000 students and 750 full-time faculty members.

Agnes has played a key role in the establishment of a partnership between NMIMS and the University of Bristol, increasing mobility of students between Mumbai and Bristol.  She has also been building research links with the faculty at NMIMS, including instigating remote access for NMIMS PhD students to the Bristol School of Management research seminars.  She has personally delivered seminars this year for students and faculty on her research into eSports gambling advertising and training for PhD students on video ethnography research methods.

Agnes said, “The appointment from NMIMS is an honour, and comes as we welcome increasing numbers of students from India to our School of Management. It’s a pleasure to work with the faculty at NMIMS and I look forward to our close collaboration going forward.”

The Officiating Vice Chancellor of NMIMS, Dr. Ramesh Bhat said, “We are delighted to have our association with Bristol University. We are very grateful for everything Professor Agnes Nairn has done to facilitate the relationship, especially her contributions to the School of Business Management, NMIMS University. We look forward to having her as a valued contributor and hope that this will pave the way for many more collaborative efforts between the two universities.”

The University of Bristol welcomes hundreds of students from India each year. Some alumni have gone on to establish their own businesses in India, whilst others have management and marketing roles within leading companies.

Starting with the 20/21 intake, alumni will also be able to take advantage of the 2 year post-study work visa, helping graduates from India to build a successful career in the UK.
