Verdon-Smith International Seminar Room

A resource for internationally-focused activity, located on the summit of Royal Fort Gardens.

The Verdon-Smith International Seminar Room sits on the 1st floor of Royal Fort House, an eighteeth-century Grade 1 listed building, surrounded by the beautiful Royal Fort Gardens. This hilltop location affords impressive views of the University's Wills Memorial Building Tower and other campus buildings.

It is recognised that a range of colleagues across the University may be interested in using this room for hybrid, international activities. Therefore booking requests may be accommodated by following the guidance and process outlined below.

Room details

Please check that the room meets the requirements of your event and attendees:

  • Please note, due to the age of the building there is no lift/elevator
  • Maximum capacity of 20
  • Staff UCard required for access
  • Opening times: 9am - 5pm
  • Equipment available includes modern AV facilities: smartboard, webcam, speakers and microphone, can be used with PC in room or your laptop via HDMI connection.
  • Catering is allowed and must be cleared away using the bins provided (do not leave anything in the corridor). Leave anything for collection on the ground floor, underneath the main stairwell by the staff lounge entrance to the building.
  • Please note, Royal Fort House is primarily a staff only space, teaching-type activity should be conducted in one of the University's central teaching spaces.
