Award holder outcomes and achievements

January marks the time when we ask former award holders to report on any further outcomes from their initial funded international collaboration. We also welcome updates at any other time of year and we are pleased to have already received news of recent achievements from two previous award holders.

Professor Emeritus Nicholas Rogers from York University in Canada received a Benjamin Meaker Award in 2017 to visit the University of Bristol, and has been in touch to update us on two book publications. Both of these use materials from the ship muster rolls collection at Bristol Archives that Nicholas worked on during the visit:

Nicholas is also completing a book with Professor Steve Poole (UWE) entitled, Sex, Sociability and the Law in Georgian Bath and Bristol, which uses material from the public lecture Nicholas gave during the Benjamin Meaker visit.

We are pleased to hear about the continued outcomes from Nicholas' funded visit to Bristol.

Dr Anthony Halog from the University of Queensland in Australia received an internal funding award in 2023 to visit the University of Bristol, and has informed us of continued collaboration with Dr Maria Valero, leading to a successful application to the WUN Research Development Fund. The awarded project is titled A Socio-Technical Approach to Sustainability, and is also co-led by Dr Pi-Cheng Chen from National Cheng Kung University in Taiwan.

Congratulations on this success and we look forward to hearing more about this project as Bristol is a WUN member.
