Open Lecture: 'Humor across Cultures, Genders and Genres in the Medieval Vernacular Epic'

14 March 2024, 4.00 PM - 14 March 2024, 5.15 PM

Bristol Benjamin Meaker Distinguished Visiting Professor Leslie Morgan, Loyola University Maryland, USA

Lecture Room 8, Arts Complex

Professor Leslie Morgan is a Bristol Benjamin Meaker Distinguished Visiting Professor. She is visiting from Loyola University Maryland, USA, and working with Professor Marianne Ailes in the Department of French on the project Franco-Italian Epic: Origins, range, and interpretations.

Current interest in transnational cultures has created difficulties in interpretation and appreciation of medieval humor. This lecture will examine medieval creation of humor and reaction to it in multiple domains (by genre, location, and chronology).

All are welcome.
