Hosted by Waverley Care
HIV disproportionately affects people of Minority Ethnic backgrounds in the UK, especially people of Black-African heritage. This is evident in higher rates of late HIV diagnosis and lower uptake of PrEP seen within these communities compared to their White-British or -Scottish counterparts.
One of the main challenges healthcare professionals, especially those working in sexual health services, face is discussing HIV testing and PrEP with people from these communities. These discussions are often led with fear of using culturally inappropriate or insensitive language and creating distrust in services.
Waverley Care has partnered with healthcare professionals and community members from Greater Glasgow & Clyde to produce a series of video resources that can be used for training purposes to help clinicians navigate these potentially difficult conversations.
The event will showcase the launch of the video resources, followed by a discussion on how these resources were created and Q&A session.
The video resources will be shared publicly after the Webinar and you will be able to access them from Waverley Care’s website (further information will be provided after the Webinar).
