IAS Benjamin Meaker Visiting Professor Pascal Hubert, McGill University, Canada

IAS BMVP Pascal Hubert

Net shape processing of complex composite structures

 1 - 30 April 2017

Professor Hubert (McGill University, Canada) received a Bachelor and Master in Mechanical Engineering from Ecole Polytechnique de Montreal and a Ph.D. in Metals and Materials Engineering from the Univeristy of British Columbia. Between his Masters and his Doctorate, he worked at Bombardier Transport as a design engineer. After his Doctorate, he worked at Forintek Canada as a research scientist. He joined the Old Dominion University as an Adjunct Professor where he conducted reserach on composite materials manufacturing for aerospace applications at NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton, Virginia. Prof. Hubert joined the Department of Mechanical Engineering at McGill in 2002 with a Canada Research Chair. He currently holds the Werner Graupe Chair on Sustainable Composites Manufacturing. His research focuses on the development of new polymer nanocomposites and on the processing of composite materials. He is board member of the Research Center for High Performance Polymer and Composite Systems.  He is also the Associate Director of the McGill Institute of Aerospace Engineering and an Associate Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics.

Professor Hubert will give the following seminars:

Net Shape Thermoplastics seminar: Wednesday 26 April 11.00-12.00 Lecture Theatre in NCC2
Processing of out of Autoclave prepregs and their application to composite repairs seminar: Thursday 27 April 12.00-13.00 room ACCIS1, Queens Building

During his stay in Bristol, Professor Hubert will be hosted by Professor Michael Wisnom (Aerospace Engineering)
