Research
The Department has a long tradition of combining fundamental research with exploitation and this has led to a strong portfolio of industrial contracts, European consortium memberships and direct exploitation. Strong research output and links with industry also underpins the "discipline-focused teaching" that differentiates us from our competitors.
We have extensive interdisciplinary links with applied mathematics, physics, psychology and medicine.
We have a number of research hubs facilitating collaborative working between groups including the Smart Internet Lab and QETlabs. These form a major part of Temple Quarter research strategy in the form of the Bristol Digital Futures Institute and Quantum Technologies Innovation Centre and have attracted considerable funding in terms of investment.
