Climate craftivism project at the UoB Futures Fair 2025

Dr Nicola Warren-Lee and Michelle Graffagnino of the School of Education, University of Bristol took their climate craftivism project to the UoB Futures Fair 2025 at We The Curious in Bristol on the 27th September.

The free public event, 'Futures A Festival of Discovery', was well attended with over 450 people coming to explore various research projects.  Academics and support staff from various University faculties were involved in transforming familiar spaces into arenas of discovery, creativity, and conversation.

The climate craftivism stall from the PGCE programme at the School of Education, University of Bristol was of interest to younger visitors in particular and the outputs from the day have been shared with Cllr Martin Fodor at Bristol City Council.  Sea creature creations were crafted and messages were written - calling for a reduction in carbon dioxide and for humans to protect their habitats.

Organisers and participants at the FUTURES Discovery Day 2025

Organisers and participants enjoyed climate craftivism at the recent FUTURES Fair 2025.

Some visitors enjoying the event were very young (see photo!) but we also had parents talking to us about their hopes for their children's education in the area of sustainability and climate going forwards.
