About the event
Join us for an interrogation of the foundations of the speech and language therapy (SLT) profession, which is rooted in a biopolitical, colonial and racist ideologies, in this online seminar hosted by the Language, Literacies and Education Network (LLEN).
The emancipatory practice 'spaces of reprieve and collaboration' was created in response to multiple authors exploring how the SLT profession can promote healing, creativity and linguistic liberation, especially when it comes to the language of Black and Brown children.
In this seminar, Dr. Warda Farah (University of Greenwich) will explore the use of 'spaces of reprieve' as a critical tool, as well as its potential to support and build citizenship that addresses the harms of racist and colonial ideologies.
