Language Training for PGRs

Have you always wanted to learn a language or improve your foreign language skills? PGRs can join the University Wide Language Programme for a fee.

Study a Language Unit

The University of Bristol is home to one of the largest schools of modern languages in the UK.

The School of Modern Languages (SML) offers a University-Wide Language Programme (UWLP) to staff and PGRs for a fee of £325 per unit.

(Please note: if learning a language is essential to your research degree, you may be able to pay the fee from research project funds. Please contact your school to confirm).

All teaching is in person and in small groups. PGRs undertaking UWLP are not assessed and do not sit examinations.
