We are pleased to share successful General Dental Council (GDC) Inspections of the Bachelor of Dental Surgery programme and Postgraduate Diploma in Orthodontics.
Published in April 2025, the Inspection report highlighted that the Bachelor of Dental Surgery is a "well-run programme that delivers a high-quality education within modern and impressive facilities". The Inspection panel recognised that the move to the new Dental School and operating model allowed "for decision making to be made quickly and effectively, as well as offering students a central location from which a range of dental procedures can be practised". The Inspection team also recognised the School's social objectives to serve all facets of the local community, which together "build[s] an effective and innovative environment".
The Posgraduate Diploma in Orthodontics Inspection report (published March 2025) noted that structure of the course and facilities "has clearly helped build a strong support network within the cohort of students and staff, even given the geographical distribution of the student placements". During the inspection, the panel met with students who praised the support that they had been given by both Bristol Dental School and their supervisor. The Inspection team noted that there were clear examples of how the provider had supported them throughout the course individually and as a cohort, and this was echoed for the supervisor within the placements. The panel concluded the inspection with commending the University of Bristol on a well organised course.
School Education Direct, Professor David Dymock, said "The GDC have a very thorough Inspection process, and we are pleased that the Inspection team recognised the high-quality of the education offered by Bristol Dental School."
